Audi’s R8 LMS took class honours at this year’s Nürburgring 24-hour race – for the third successive year – after passing a faltering Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, to secure the GT3 car class. If that wasn’t enough, the Audi TT RS finished as the best front-wheel drive vehicle, and an excellent 14th overall, taking the SP 4T class in the development demonstrator.

Last night’s Top Gear saw a return to the Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track for another icy challenge, but this time it was the turn of Captain Slow to defend the automobile’s honour.
