Those people missing the old supercharged 5.5L V8 won’t be upset for too long, once they’ve sampled the delights of its successor.
AMG fans will be more than satisfied with their naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, producing an awesome 514 bhp. This enables the E63 to hit 60 mph in a supercar-like 4.3 seconds (identical to the Ferrari 360 Modena), just under cutting BMW’s M5 time of 4.5 seconds. Rumours are rife that Mercedes will be showing a four door convertible based on their flagship saloon, the S Class, at The Detroit Motor Show in January 2007.

It’s said to have the longest roof ever seen on a convertible, and owners can expect the interior equipment level to have the same exceptional quality as found on all S Class models. Power for the uber rag-top is likely to be in the form of their 6L V12.
