Those people missing the old supercharged 5.5L V8 won’t be upset for too long, once they’ve sampled the delights of its successor.
AMG fans will be more than satisfied with their naturally aspirated 6.2L V8, producing an awesome 514 bhp. This enables the E63 to hit 60 mph in a supercar-like 4.3 seconds (identical to the Ferrari 360 Modena), just under cutting BMW’s M5 time of 4.5 seconds. Impressive for a car weighing in at 4035 pounds.
The only thing to spoil the fun, is a limiter keeping the super saloon’s top speed down to a ‘mere’ 155 mph. European owners will be able to specify the car without the nasty restrictor, where as the American market will unfortunately not be given that option.
The E63 will be produced in both saloon and estate versions and will benefit from AMG’s seven speed gearbox, tuned suspension, a set of larger 18 inch alloys covering larger partially composite discs and four piston calipers.
