Kempten’s ABT Sportsline has unveiled a last hurrah to the sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI at Essen before its successor rolls onto the scene.
There are two stages of tuning upgrades to suit the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder; the first, a simple ECU software remap, sees output rise from 155 kW (210 hp) to 191 kW (256 hp), while Stage II requires an uprated turbocharger to release 228 kW (306 hp). A 345 mm front brake kit is also fitted with this option.
Visually, the company’s aero package includes a new front grille, fascia with LED daytime running lights and splitter lip, side skirts, roof spoiler and finned diffuser. There’s also a full exhaust system with diagonal quadruple tailpipes.
ABT also carries a large range of alloy wheels in 18 and 19-inch diameter, including the DR items pictured here, while the 25 mm reduction in ride height is achieved thanks to a sport spring kit.
