As it created the Arosa from Volkswagen’s little Lupo model, there was little doubt that the Wolfsburg company’s new up! would also end up with a SEAT twist, and here it is, the Mii.
As with Skoda’s up!-based Citigo vehicle, expect the Mii to appear in SEAT showrooms towards the end of this year, with a price tag of around £ 8,000 (€ 9,300) for the base model.
Powered by the same new generation three-cylinder 1.0 L petrol units as the up!, the Mii will be available in 44 kw/60 hp and 55 kw/75 hp versions. At 171 km/h (106 mph), top speed isn’t great, but 4.2 l/km and 4.3 l/km is most welcome.
A great feature, which you’d normally only see on high-end luxury saloons, is the automatic braking system, which is active at speeds up to 18 mph. It uses laser sensors to detect potential collisions and can automatically apply the brakes – avoiding incidents.
Another nice touch is the Mii’s mobile infotainment device, which sits in the car’s centre console. Designed jointly with Navigon, the removable 5-inch multi-media system can be used to organise the navigation, receive information, enjoy entertainment, or make make telephone calls via its touchscreen. Specially developed apps allow updates and tailoring to specific tastes.
