Hartge Supercharged V8 BMW M3

German BMW specialists give the E46 M3 supercharged V8 power.

BMW tuners Hartge, have created the E46 M3-based H50 by dropping the straight six powerplant in favour of a V8 motor from the 4.4i X5. It’s then enlarged to 5L and treated to a SRM Opcon twin-screw compressor.

This takes power upto 493 bhp (up from 333 bhp), which means a 0-62 mph time of 4.2 seconds and onto an unlimited 193 mph top speed.

On the aerodynamic side of things, the package includes a new front spoiler, vented bonnet, mirrors, rear spoiler and a new lower section for the rear bumper (to compliment the new rear exhaust pipes).

Uprated Bilstein suspension and 20 inch alloys hiding a set of monster 15 inch discs gripped by 8 piston calipers, sort the chassis upgrades out.

Nice car. Let’s see how the new M3 will stack up against it.

I’ve been eyeing the Turbo e46 series (Horspowerfreaks kit)…but I think this is a sweet ride as well. Not sure I like the “boxter” looking tail pipes tho’… to ‘porchey’… like the regular M configuration better.
