Volkswagen has given us a glimpse into the future, with a self driving Golf, capable of upto 150 mph!
The Wolfsburg boffins have christened the crazy VW Golf GTi, the ’53 plus 1′ (a reference to the number on its film star cousin, Herbie). The GTI has sensors built into the grille that monitor the road. They feed information back to an onboard computer, which works in conjunction with the satellite navigation system. The end result means the Golf can be navigated along any road, with pin-point accuracy.
Volkswagen stated ‘It really is a self-driving Golf. It steers, brakes and accelerates. And it races through handling courses independently. It can accomplish this at full performance and at the limits of its capabilities.’
