Rimac e-M3 breaks numerous world records

Croatia’s Rimac Automobili has announced that its ‘Green Monster’ E30 3 Series has smashed several world acceleration records for an electric vehicle.

The e-M3 Evaluation vehicle had previously been used as a circuit racing and drift vehicle by company founder Mate Rimac, but after destroying its petrol engine he ditched the expired lump in favour of a 24 kWh battery pack and VST-built DC Motor capable of producing 441 kW (600 hp) and 900 Nm of torque, which allows a range of 180 kilometres, a 0-100 km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a 280 km/h (174 mph) top speed.

The vivid E30 was taken to a military runway near Zagreb, measuring two kilometres, to see just what it could do. And it didn’t fail to impress. The 1/8 of a mile time of 7.549 seconds and 11.808s 1/4 mile time have already been recognised as records by the FIA, while the 1/2 km (13.714s), 1 km (23.260s) and 1 mile figure of 35.347s are still pending approval.
