Porsche 997 GT3 RSR Spotted During Testing
Posted 10th July, 2006 in Uncategorized | 1 Comment
The next generation GT3 RSR has been seen testing for the first time, at Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps circuit.
The awesome extended arches and ‘strictly business’ rear wing give the car an imposing appearance, while the new style twin exhausts with ‘facing eachother’ tips, just look cool.
The new GT3 RSR body is based on a Carrera 4 item, making for a much more rigid shell. The aerodynamic package is said to be 7% more efficient than its predecessors.
The 996 transmission will be retained for this car only, with the 2007 edition receiving a new ‘dog-type’ gearbox which will reduce the drive-shaft angle (and load) between the gearbox and the driven hubs, thus increasing the life-span of the drive-shafts and joints.
The 2007 spec car is currently being fine tuned in readiness for its only race of the season, the Proximus 24 hour at Spa, running in the G2 catergory against a Gillet Vertigo and Mosler MT900. Porsche customer cars won’t be available to race until the 2007 season.
