Volkswagen is capitalizing on its family connections with Ducati by creating a hot version of the XL1 Super Efficient Vehicle jointly with the Audi-owned motorcycle manufacturer.
Rather than the combination of an 800 cc two-cylinder TDI engine developing 35 kW (48 hp) and 120 Nm of torque, along with an electric motor producing 20 kW (27 hp) and 100 Nm, the XL Sport will utilize the 1199 Panigale’s twin-cylinder with 145 kW (195 hp) and 133 Nm at its disposal.
Speaking to a group of students at the Vienna University of Technology speech, Ferdinand Piëch showed an image of the steroidal design study, which features widened box arches, a more aggressive fascia and ventilated hood. The weight of the additional bodywork will be offset by the removal of the hybrid drive, meaning a ridiculously low curb weight of less than 795 kg.
