  • Audi A7 Sportback by Senner Tuning

Benno Senner, president of Senner Tuning AG, and his team in Ingelheim am Rhein have been tweaking Audi’s beautiful A7 Sportback model. Choosing the 180 kW/245 hp 3.0L V6 TDI version as its base for the project, Senner tweaked the diesel unit to produce 225 kW/306 hp and an impressive 620 Nm of torque (up from 500 Nm). For comparison – that’s more than a McLaren MP4-12C produces. VMax is also raised to 280 km/h (174 mph). A new stainless steel sports exhaust also helps matters, as does the power converter which removes the delay which can be seen in fly-by-wire accelerator systems.

Visually, the A7 has been fitted with 9.5×20 inch Varianza T1S alloy wheels wrapped in Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta in 275/35R20 tyres, while the ride height can be dropped by 30 mm – on cars fitted with the optional adaptive air suspension.

  • P’6520 Compass Watch from Porsche Design

Porsche Design has gone back to the drawing board for its latest timepiece, updating the original Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche-designed Compass Watch from 1978.

Whereas it’s seventies predecessor was made from aluminium, this modern-day counterpart, the P’6520 Compass Watch, is manufactured from lightweight, antiallergenic titanium and comes in two parts: the upper section is a SW300 Sellita calibre-driven watch with three luminescent hands, while underneath lies the removable liquid compass.

Strictly limited to just 911 units, the P’6520 has grown slightly in size, now 42 mm in diameter (up 3 mm) and 14.6 mm high (up 1.6 mm), and is fully water resistant up to a depth of 50 metres.

  • Nico Rosberg & David Coulthard tackle the Nürburgring in an SLS AMG

Michael Schumacher takes Mercedes GP team-mate Nico Rosberg around the Nürburgring in a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, before Rosberg repeating the journey while chauffeuring DTM pilot David Coulthard. It’s well worth watching, but a shame they weren’t in a GT3 version. (more…)

  • Mercedes-Benz Reporter at the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series reveal

Here’s a nice video from Mercedes-Benz Reporter that offers a good look around the new C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series during its grand unveiling at the weekend. A few past and present F1 stars were in attendance, as was AMG’s Powertrain Director Friedrich Eichler, who talked about that epic 517 hp 6.3L V8 unit, which helps the C 63 AMG Coupé Black Series to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds. • SLS AMG GT3 driver following in his father’s footsteps

This weekend, at Spa-Francorchamps, will be an extra special occasion for team Black Falcon driver Kenneth Heyer and his Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. Not only will his gullwing racer be wearing the same colour and number as his father’s Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, but 2011 also marks the 40th anniversary of Hans Heyer’s class victory in the legendary 24-hour race.

The 300 SEL 6.3 was the basis for the AMG racing saloon. Producing 250 hp, and with a top speed of 220 km/h, this stunning saloon enjoyed the accolade of Germany’s fastest series-production car in its day. Its modern-day counterpart, the SLS AMG GT3, seems much more brutal in comparison, more of a weapon than a car. The SLS AMG is powered by an AMG 6.3-litre V8 unit, based on the road car’s engine.

“40 years after our class victory and second overall place, I think it is a great idea to enter the Spa-Francorchamps race with the SLS AMG GT3 in the same look as “my” 300 SEL 6.8 AMG,” said Hans Heyer.
