    Mercedes-Benz CLS by Misha Designs
    The Californian styling specialist Misha Designs has teamed up with Couture Customs of Scottsdale, Arizona for a joint project based the Mercedes CLS 63 AMG.

    The Misha Designs body package comprises of a replacement front bumper with large intakes, a rear bumper with air outlets and diffuser, wider fenders, a ventilated hood, side skirts, and trunk and roof spoilers. A set of white 20-inch Forgiato F2.01 alloy wheels complete the look.

    Couture Customs were responsible for the installation of the kit and paintwork on the car, along with the reupholstering of the interior in black leather with contrasting stitching and double-diamond quilted panels.

    It may have only just swung into production, but that hasn’t stopped Mercedes-Benz from creating an exclusive version of its new CLA-Class.

    Available for just twelve months with any petrol or diesel engine in the range, the CLA Edition 1 can be specified in either mountain grey, cosmos black, night black, cirrus white or designo polar silver magno paintwork, with standard equipment including bi-xenon headlamps, AMG front and rear aprons and side skirts and a set of black multi-spoke AMG alloy wheels.

    Moving to the exclusive NEON ART interior, the sports seats are upholstered in a mixture of leather and black microfibre DINAMICA with yellow stitching, with the flat-bottomed multifunction steering wheel trimmed in nappa leather and the dashboard and accompanying elements finished in brushed aluminium.

    Deliveries begin in the second of of the year, with pricing starting at €35,400 for the 90 kW (122 hp) CLA 180.

    RENM Performance has released details of its stunning Lamborghini Gallardo STS-700 program, promising the closest thing to a road legal Blancpain Super Trofeo race car.

    Based on the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, RENM fits the 5.2-litre V10 with titanium rods, custom billet pistons and a crankshaft with raised compression ratio. It also receives custom billet camshafts, larger titanium valves, modified ports, uprated injectors and a valve-controlled titanium exhaust system, weighing just 11 kg. Those changes result in an output of 522 kW (700 hp), enough for a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed in excess of 330 km/h (205 mph).

    Chassis upgrades comprise of a carbon ceramic brake kit, widened wheel track, Ohlins three-way fully adjustable dampers and adjustable front anti-roll bar and wishbone suspension links.

    Other additions include a carbon fibre aero package, magnesium racing wheels with racing tyres, a roll-cage and Alcantara-trimmed lightweight race seats with harnesses.

  • Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet officially revealed

    Volkswagen has finally revealed the new Golf R Cabriolet, its fastest Cabriolet ever, with orders being taken from today.

    Propulsion comes courtesy of VW’s 2.0-litre FSI engine, which develops 195 kW (265 hp) and 350 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed DSG transmission, allowing a 0-100 km/h time of 6.4 seconds and a 250 km/h top speed.

    Visually, the R sits 25 mm lower than standard and features 18-inch Talladega alloy wheels, gloss black mirrors and radiator grille, side skirts, aggressively-styled bumpers with large air intakes, twin tailpipes shrouded by a rear diffuser and a colour-matched boot lid spoiler.

    Standard equipment consists of bi-xenon headlights, Climatronic air conditioning, aluminium sill plates, inlays and door trims, sports seats in Vienna leather, a leather multi-function steering wheel and stainless steel pedals.

    Pricing starts at €43,325. Wow.

    This new video from Auto Express sees the magazine’s Owen Mildenhall look to the past at Audi’s legendary ur-quattro to see how it compares with the company’s limited edition A1 quattro.

    The A1 is propelled by the company’s delightful 2.0 TFSI engine, which develops 188 kW (256 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, while its 1991 sibling uses that delicious 20-valve five-cylinder, producing 162 kW (217 hp) and 308 Nm, enough for 230 km/h (143 mph) top speed.

    As a bonus, there’s also a drag race between the A1 and Hannu Mikkola’s 1986 Group B rally car. Which one would you put your money on?

  • Volkswagen Beetle GSR revealed

    Volkswagen has announced details of the new limited edition Beetle GSR ahead of its début at the Chicago Auto Show (February 7 – 18).

    Sharing the same colour scheme as its 1303 S predecessor with the same name from forty years ago, the GSR (Gelb/Schwarz Racer or Yellow/Black Racer) features a yellow body with black hood, roof, mirrors and boot lid, along with side stripes depicting the model’s name. Customers can also order a Platinum Grey and Black body finish as an option. R-Line bumpers are fitted as standard, while the 19-inch Tornado alloy wheels wear 235/40 tyres.

    Moving inside the cabin, occupants get fabric R-Line sports seats with yellow stitching (US version in black leather), the R-Line dashboard panel, uniquely-numbered badging (1 to 3,500), a leather-trimmed steering wheel and handbrake lever, and black floor mats with yellow embroidery.

    Developing 155 kW (208 hp) and 280 Nm of torque from its turbocharged engine, the GSR cracks 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reaches a 229 km/h (130 mph). A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard with the six-speed DSG available an option.

    Available to order from May, with deliveries starting in the Autumn, pricing in Germany is set at €30,300.
