Volkswagen has today opened its order book for customers in wanting the natural gas-powered eco up! model.
Propelled by a CNG 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine producing 50 kW (67 hp) and 90 Nm of torque, the eco up! needs just 2.9 kg of natural gas every 100 kilometres, while generating a mere 79 g/km of CO2. One kg of natural gas is the equivalent to around 1.5 litres of petrol. The car also has BlueMotion Technology to thank for its frugality, which includes a Stop/Start function, lower ride height and battery regeneration system.
Pricing in Germany starts at €12,950 for the two-door model, while the foor-door will set you back €13,430.
