Legendary driver Walter Rohrl will relive his Pikes Peak success from 25 years ago when he returns to the iconic event in the U.S. state of Colorado on July 8 this year.
Motorsport fans will be able to witness the Rally Driver of the Century behind the wheel of the original 441 kW (591 hp) Audi Sport quattro S1 that took him to victory on the Race to the Clouds a quarter of a century ago, in a time of 10 minutes and 48 seconds. And that was when it was still an unpaved dirt road.
Obviously, Rohrl won’t be competing this time, but you can guarantee that he won’t hang around as he tackles the 150 curves covering almost 20 kilometres, culminating at the 4,301 metre summit.
