  • Porsche 911 GT America revealed

    Porsche 911 GT America
Porsche has announced details of its North American-only 911 GT America racecar for the brand new United SportsCar Racing series.

Based on the current 911 GT3 Cup car but with a larger 4.0-litre flat-six engine developing 350 kW (470 hp), the 911 GT America shares the same electronic throttle and pneumatic flappy paddle-controlled six-speed dog-type transmission.

Externally there’s a revised front spoiler, engine cover, carbon-fibre undertray and USCR-spec rear wing, while the endurance package includes quick-release couplings for all brake calipers, a fast-fill refueling system and oil level display. Moving inside, there’s the newly-developed race seat, multi-functional steering wheel, new colour Cosworth dash display and a welded-in roll cage. There’s also a rescue hatch in the roof allowing medical staff to extract the driver following an accident.

Deliveries start in October, with the car being offered to those teams committed to running the entire 2014 USCR season. President of Porsche Motorsport North America Jens Walther confirmed that the factory in Stuttgart has worked quickly to complete this endurance racecar in accordance to 2014 USCR GT Daytona rules, thus allowing teams time to test over winter before the season debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“We are hopeful that our current American Le Mans Series GTC customers, along with our Rolex GRAND-AM competitors and new teams, will want to take advantage of this early availability,” said Walther.

    Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse
More details, including pricing, have emerged regarding Lamborghini’s new Gallardo Squadra Corse model.

Even though European customers can choose from Giallo Midas (yellow), Monocerus Bianco (white), Grigio Thalasso (grey) and Rosso Mars (red) exterior colours, America will only be offered yellow.

Out of the 50 being built, a mere 15 examples will be heading to the States, with a further three slated for Canada. Interested parties will need to have at least $259,100 (€193,546) in their piggy banks – plus the $2,100 gas guzzler tax imposed on new cars that do not meet required fuel economy levels. Deliveries begin in September following the car’s Franfurt reveal.

The Squadra Corse takes its name from Lamborghini’s racing department and is the closest thing you can get to a road legal Super Trofeo racecar. Power comes from a 5.2-litre V10 which sends 419 kW (570 hp) and 540 Nm of torque to all four wheels via a 6-speed robotized sequential system operated by flappy paddles. Tipping the scales at 1340 kg, it hits 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 200 km/h in 10.4 seconds and a reaches a 320 km/h (199 mph) top speed before the carbon ceramic brakes are jumped on.

  • White Phoenix Audi R8 by Prior Design and Famous Parts

    White Phoenix Audi R8
Ratingen-based aftermarket specialist Famous Parts has joined forces with Prior Design to create an Audi R8 program called White Phoenix.

The conversion begins with Prior Design’s GT850 wide body package, which adds 6 cm to the front and 8 cm at the rear and includes a front fascia with integrated spoiler, wider ventilated fenders, skirts, sideblades, rear quarter panels, a roof scoop and vented rear bumper with diffuser.

Colossal wheels were required to fill the new arches, so FP opted for a set of Rotiform’s BLQs, which feature matte black centres with body-coloured rims. Measuring 10 and 13.5 x 20-inches they wear 255/30 and 345/25 Continental Sport contact tyres.

Sitting on tweaked Magnetic Ride adaptive dampers, other mechanical changes include optimized ECU software, modified pipework and a stainless steel Capristo system with a remote controlled flap allowing a four-fold sound selection.

This specific car was carried out for a customer, but all pieces are available to order through Famous Parts.
