  • Superchips boosts the Audi A1 1.4 TFSI Sport

Superchips, the UK tuning specialists, has had Audi’s A1 1.4 TFSI Sport model on its rollers, optimising the car’s ECU, which has resulted in a impressive upgrade for the baby hatchback.

Suitable for 1.4 TFSI Sport cars equipped with either the six speed manual or seven speed S-Tronic transmission, the remapping of the Bosch MED17 ECU takes output from 120 bhp up to 146 bhp. That upgrade means the A1’s 0-60 mph time is reduced from 8.9 seconds to just 7.8 s, while 50-70 mph in 5th gear is also cut by 1.1 seconds.

The conversion is available immediately, priced at £ 455 (€ 514).

  • 2012 SEAT Exeo and Exeo ST revealed

SEAT has tweaked its Exeo and Exeo ST models for 2012. Still basically the old Audi A4, the Exeo receives new bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, honeycomb grilles and LED rear light clusters. The makeover also includes newly-designed alloy wheels – in 17 and 18-inch diameter.

All common-rail TDI models enjoy reduced fuel consumption as well as a cut in CO2 emissions of around 7 g/km, meaning the 88 and 105 kW (120 and 143 hp) saloons fitted manual transmission dip below the 130 g/km mark. Combined fuel consumption drops to 5.2L/100km (5.3L/100km on the ST).

The more powerful models in the range – the 147 kW (200 hp) 2.0 TSI and 105 kW (143 hp) 2.0 TDI – are available with a multitronic transmission featuring flappy paddle gear shifters.

If you’re the type who gets all nostalgic about the B7 A4 get yourself down to your local SEAT dealership. It’ll be like picking up an 18-year old Angelina Jolie.

  • Techart Aerodynamic Kit I for the Porsche Cayenne

Leonberg-based tuninghouse TECHART has released details of its new aerodynamic kit for Porsche’s Cayenne SUV ahead of its official unveiling at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

Constructed from high-quality polyurethane RIM, the most noticeable piece of the kit is around the front, with TECHART adding an aggressive three-piece lower spoiler with integrated air ducts. There’s also a set of daytime running light units available with either LED or halogen bulbs.

Subtle sill extensions run along the flanks of the Cayenne, while at the back there’s a largish roof spoiler and lower rear apron with built-in diffuser. Those ‘TECHART’ embossed tailpipes finish off the new performance exhaust system.

Known for offering a wide range of light alloy wheels, TECHART gives owners the choice of Formula – available in 20- to 23-inch, Formula II – in sizes 22- and 23-inch, and Formula III in sizes 21- and 22-inch diameters.

TECHART can also provide a power increase – based around the reworking of the engine management system – for your Cayenne. Installation of its TA 058/D1 performance kit adds 29 kW (40 hp) and 70 Nm to the diesel model, resulting in a sprint to 100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds, and 160 km/h in just 18.9 seconds. The Turbo model is a little livelier once fitted with the TA 058/T1 kit. Output is up from 368 kW (500 bhp) to 412 kW (560 hp) and 780 Nm, with 100 km/h appearing in 4.4 seconds and 160 km/h in 9.9 s.

TECHART will be débuting its TA 058/T2 kit for the Cayenne Turbo at Frankfurt. This will be good for 440 kW (600 hp) and over 900 Nm of torque.
