  • Second APR Audi R8 GRAND-AM to compete at Watkins Glenn

Alabama-based APR Motorsport has announced that it will be fielding a second Audi R8 GRAND-AM racer at the Six Hours at the Glen GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car endurance classic on July 1. The #52 car, which will be piloted by Marc Basseng and Frank Stippler, will join the #51 R8 of Dr. Jim Norman, Dion von Moltke and Ian Baas.

“It’s a great feeling to be running two cars with involvement from Audi Sport and with two of their factory drivers at Watkins Glen this weekend. We’ve enjoyed our relationship with Audi as their official launch partner for the GRAND-AM program,” said APR Motorsport owner Stephen Hooks.

Based on the successful LMS GT3 racer, quattro GmbH has modified the R8 allowing to compete in the Grand Touring class of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series in North America. Rules dictate that the ABS and traction control systems have to be disabled in the R8 GRAND-AM.

Fans can keep track of the live timing and scoring at GRAND-AM.COM during every weekend event.

  • Ghost Extended Wheelbase heading to Goodwood

Rolls-Royce has announced that the Ghost Extended Wheelbase will be at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, acting as the Race Director’s car.

Powered by the company’s brawny 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V12 engine, which transfers its 420 kW (563 hp) and 780 Nm (575 lb/ft) of torque to the road via an eight-speed automatic transmission, the elongated variant is still capable of cracking 100 km/h in just five seconds.

Painted in midnight sapphire with a silver satin bonnet, and wafting along on air-suspension with electronic variable damping, the occupants enjoy the benefits of a panoramic sunroof and hand stitched crème light and navy blue leather upholstery complimented by dark wenge veneer elements.

Rolls-Royce has also brought along a blue velvet sparkle Phantom Saloon Series II press car, which will be stretching its legs today, providing VIP and media drives up the hill.

  • Audi A5 Coupe by Rieger Tuning

Eggenfelden-based Rieger Tuning has created a new body program for owners of the facelifted Audi A5 who can only dream of having the devilish 331 kW (450 hp) RS 5 Coupe sitting in their garage.

The aero package includes a front fascia fitted with genuine grille sections and a carbon fibre effect lower spoiler, side skirts and rear bumper section with integrated diffuser and authentic RS 5 tailpipes. There’s also a clear coated carbon-effect wing for the boot lid. Let’s pretend those fender gill aren’t there, OK?

Other additions on this car include a set of polished, 21-inch Corniche Challenge wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tyres, a H&R sports spring kit, Rieger mufflers and RS 5 brake calipers.

  • Audi R8 by Graf Weckerle

Karlsruhe-based customizer Graf Weckerle has released details of its new Collection Sport range and created this anthracite Audi R8 project to display its wares.

The company’s Sport wheels displayed are ultra-lightweight, multi-piece forged items, sized 9 and 11 x 20-inches and wrapped in 245/30 R 20 and 305/25 R 20 tyres. Consisting of a highly-polished centre with gloss black rim, other finishes available include matte, rough ultra-matte or gloss painted centres, while the rims can be either pure metal, hand-polished or brushed. Personally, we’d avoid wheels with black rims as they tend to make the overall diameter appear smaller than it actually is. The only other visual change is the two shades of anthracite applied to the R8’s body and Graf Weckerle’s logos on the sideblades.

Performance upgrades consist of a remapped ECU and stainless steel exhaust system with remote controlled flaps and matte ceramic tips, allowing the 5.2-litre V8 to produce 355 kW (455 hp), while the factory suspension has made way for a fully adjustable, aluminium coilover set-up.

  • Brian Henderson’s Porsche 964 [video]

Here’s the beautifully shot video that accompanied Stance Works’ article on Brian Henderson’s Porsche 964. Anyone following us on Twitter will know that we’re massive fans of the 964 and, even though we preferred Brian’s super-clean example on its previous set of BBS RS wheels, it’s still one of our favourites. If we owned it, it’d be sitting on BBS E28 magnesium rims. Simple as.

  • DMC Murcielago LP 700 M-GT

Düsseldorf-based tuning specialist DMC has released details of its LP 700 M-GT program for Lamborghini’s Murcielago.

Visually, this superannuated supercar wears the carbon fibre M-GT aero package, which consists of an aggressive front bumper with optimized ducting, rear bumper with integrated diffuser and a newly-developed rear wing, while inside, there’s a full leather re-trim and carbon fibre elements.

Thanks to its new Performance Unit in Zurich Switzerland, DMC can now provide engine tuning options. The conversion sees DMC remove the factory intake system before replacing it with 12 individual intake throttle plates – one per each cylinder. Uprated injector nozzles, fuel pumps, lines were also fitted, along with a new crankshaft, remapped ECU and stainless steel exhaust system, resulting in a pleasurable 522 kW (700 hp).

The package is available from the original 426 kW (580 hp) model right up to the hairy LP 670-4 SuperVeloce.
