    1_perf-2ser
BMW has revealed its range of Performance Parts for the new 2 Series Coupe.

Designed to supplement models fitted with the M sports package, the M Performance Aerodynamic Kit consists of an aggressively styled front apron, side skirts, a carbon fibre boot lid spoiler and rear diffuser section. Other pieces include black kidney grilles, carbon fibre mirror casings and side stripes.

Moving inside, the cockpit receives an Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel with carbon trim and race display, and carbon interior trim with Alcantara for the dashboard, centre console, interior door grips, gearshift and handbrake grip. Floor mats and a stainless steel pedal kit complete the look.

Mechanical upgrades consist of a Power Kit for the 220d, which sees output from the 4-cylinder diesel engine rise by 12 kW (16 hp) and 40 Nm to 147 kW (200 hp) and 420 Nm, while M235i owners can specify a limited slip differential and rear silencer with carbon or chrome tailpipes. Other components include a brake system using red, yellow or orange calipers, 19-inch forged alloy wheels in a choice of two designs and a sport suspension kit providing a 20 mm drop in ride height.

  • Volkswagen Golf GTI Dark and Polo R WRC Street by ABT Sportsline

    1_abt-essen-6556
ABT Sportsline has announced details of its new Golf GTI Dark and Polo R WRC Street programs.

Painted in black with red details, the Golf wears dark taillights, mirror casings and headlight covers along with side skirts, a front apron with lip spoiler, an embossed tailgate strip and rear skirt shrouding four chromed black tailpipes. Chassis tweaks include sport stabilisers and a height adjustable coilover suspension kit, while the factory alloys make way for ABT’s 20-inch CR wheels finished in gloss black and wrapped in 235/30 high-performance tyres.

Under the hood, the company’s Power Kit allows output from the 2.0 TSI to develop 221 kW (300 hp) rather than 169 kW (230 hp) meaning the 0-100 km/h time drops from 5.5 seconds to 5.8s, while top speed is increased to 258 km/h (160 mph).

Packing a near-identical 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, the Polo R WRC Street responds to ABT’s upgrade in a similar manner, making 213 kW (290 hp) and 420 Nm instead of 162 kW (217 hp) and 349 Nm. Customers can also opt for the 8 x 18-inch DR or Z5 alloy wheel upgrade.

    1-xxx-p-turbo-r8
Bochum tuning specialist xXx Performance has joined forces with Chiptrick Technologies to create a potent package for the V8-engined Audi R8.

The program, which comprises remapped ECU software, a pair of custom Garrett turbocharger units, high-pressure fuel pumps, uprated injectors and a custom intercooler, is available in three levels of tune.

Stage One sees output from the 4.2 FSI climb from 309 kW (420 hp) and 430 Nm of torque to 434 kW (590 hp) and 660 Nm, while Stage Two yields 471 kW (640 hp) and 675 Nm. The final option releases 520 kW (707 hp) and 809 Nm, allowing the R8 to crack 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, with 200 km/h appearing in 10.6s and 300 km/h in 15.8 before reaching an electronically limited 313 km/h (194 mph) top speed.

Visually, the front spoiler, flaps and fins are constructed from carbon fibre with the sideblades wrapped to match, while the factory wheels have been replaced by Oxigin’s 14 Oxrock alloys measuring 8.5 and 11 x 20-inches and covered in 235/30 and 295/25 tyres.

    chris-991-12c
This latest episode of DRIVE sees Chris Harris pointing out that the €200,000 price tag on the Porsche 911 Turbo S puts it in the same bracket as McLaren’s 12C.

    Propelled by a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre flat-six engine developing 560 hp (412 kW) and 710 Nm of torque, the S takes just 3.1 seconds to crack 100 km/h before reaching a 318 mph (197 mph) top speed, while its British rival uses a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 459 kW (616 hp) and 600 Nm allowing an identical 0-100 km/h time to the Porsche’s but a higher maximum of 333 km/h (207 mph).
