  • Holiday errands in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupe

    Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Coupe
This latest video from the guys at Petrolicious features the painfully-elegant Mercedes 300 SL Coupe working its powers of seduction on a guy who made the mistake of choosing it to carry out a few errands.

Equipped with a revised version of the straight-six found in the 300 S Saloon, this streamline-bodied Gullwing had almost double the power of the original 86 kW (115 hp) carbureted unit thanks to its Bosch mechanical fuel injection – the company’s first car to feature fuel injection.

Will Ferrell has really let himself go.

  • BMW i3 Coupe Concept trailer

    BMW i3 Concept Coupe
BMW has released a new promotional video featuring its quirky-looking i3 Coupe Concept.

The premium-class three-door model; a study for sustainable motoring with zero local emissions, uses floor-mounted lithium-ion storage cells to feed its electric motor, which sends 125 kW (168 hp) and 250 Nm to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission. Use of CFRP for the bodyshell results in a weight of 1,250 kg and a sub-eight second 0-100 km/h time, while a range of 160 kilometres (100 miles) is achievable – depending on driving mode.

  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Black Edition by Prior Design

    C-Class Coupe Black Edition
Kamp-Lintfort styling specialist Prior Design chose to debut its Black Edition program for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe at this year’s Essen Motor Show, and here it is.

As the name implies, it replicates Mercedes’ puissant 336 kW (457 hp) Black Series model, but does a pretty good job of it.

Constructed from high quality Dura-Flex, the aero package consists of a front bumper with LED daytime running lights and detachable spoiler, wider vented fenders, side skirts, rear wheel arch extensions and back bumper with diffuser section. A ventilated hood completes the semblance.

  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

    2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Mercedes-Benz has released images of its facelifted Saloon and Estate ahead of their Detroit début next month.

The biggest change is the switch from quad headlight lenses to dual LED-infused units, each with a pair of L-shaped daytime running lights. Full LED lights are available as an option. The revised front bumper features a more sculpted fascia while the more upright grille features a central star on the Avantgarde line models with the basic and Elegance versions retaining the 3-louvre look. The muscular rear wheel arches have now been smoothed out and blend into a restyled rear bumper which sits below new two-tone look LED taillights.

Moving inside, the cabin gets new seats and trim materials from aluminium or wood, redesigned air vents with an analogue clock mounted between the central items, a revamped 3-tube instrument cluster and a repositioned select lever which moves from the centre console to the steering column.

Petrol engine options start with the E 200, which produces 135 kW (184 hp) and 300 Nm, enough for a 7.9 second 0-100 km/h time. In the middle, there’s a 225 kW (306 hp) E 350, with the top of the tree being the E 500 4MATIC, which produces 300 kW (408 hp) and 600 Nm. Diesel fans are catered well catered for beginning with the 100 kW (136 hp) E 200 CDI and takes 9.5s to stroll to 100 km/h. Other variants include a 150 kW (204 hp) E 250 CDI, a 150 kW (204 hp) E 250 CDI 4MATIC and a 185 kW (252 hp) E 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC which makes 185 kW (252 hp) and 620 Nm and takes 6.7s to hit 100 km/h. If hybrids are your bag there’s the E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, which used a 2.1-litre four-cylinder engine and electric motor developing 150 kW (204 hp) and 500 Nm and 19 kW (26 hp) and 280 Nm respectively. Just 4.1 litres of fuel are needed every 100 kilometres, with emissions of 107 CO2 g/km.

  • Merry Christmas from Mercedes-AMG

    AMG Christmas 2012
Mercedes-AMG has come over all festive with its latest SLS AMG GT3 video which sees the team burning the midnight oil at the track, but it’s all in a good cause.

The gullwinged racer features an aero package that adds 2-inches to the car’s width while its 409 kW (548 hp) 6.2-litre V8 engine is virtually identical to its road-going counterpart, meaning 100 km/h appears in 3.7 seconds and top speed goes beyond 300 km/h (186 mph). And it gets quite hot.

    Don’t try this at home.

  • DMC Aventador LP900 SV

DMC Aventador LP900 SV Limited Edition
Duesseldorf tuner DMC has revealed its LP900 SV Limited Edition program for the Lamborghini Aventador.

Constructed entirely from carbon fibre, just ten examples will be manufactured with DMC hand-picking the customers – who must already own an Aventador fitted with the company’s Molto Veloce kit.

The SV package retains the Molto Veloce’s side skirts and raised rear wing, but the front bumper takes inspiration from Lamborghini’s sharp-nosed J Concept Roadster and features large air scoops with central fixing braces and winglets on the outer edges. The equally-grandiose rear bumper wears a revised diffuser with an opening beneath the custom tailpipes.

The performance upgrade sees DMC ditch the factory injection system in favour of 12 separate single intake throttle plates, uprated fuel pumps and nozzles and optimized ECU software. The 6.5-litre V12 is topped off with a titanium exhaust system that tips the scales at just 3.45 kg, resulting in an output of 671 kW (900 hp).
