  • Vilner announces Bentley Continental GT program

    Vilner Bentley Continental GT
    Better known for creating some extremely impressive interiors, Sofia-based Vilner Studio has revealed a few teaser images of its forthcoming program for Bentley’s Continental GT.

    The aftermarket specialist’s conversion begins with an extreme aero package reminiscent of Bentley’s GT3 Concept, which comprises of a muscular front fascia with large central air intake, an elaborate carbon fibre spoiler, ventilated fenders, carbon fibre side skirts, a raised rear wing, wider rear bumper with air outlets and an aggressive rear diffuser. There will also be a performance upgrade including a new exhaust system with quadruple tailpipes.

    Moving inside, Vilner will reupholster every inch of the cabin using a mixture of leather and carbon fibre.

  • Volkswagen introduces Groove up! and Rock up!

    Volkswagen has added a pair of special edition up! versions to its range, with the introduction of the Groove up! and Rock up!.

    Both use the top-specification High up! model as a base with the Groove up!, which is available in three and five-door variants, gaining a Fender sound system with a 300-Watt amplifier, six speakers and a subwoofer. Other standard features include 16-inch Upsilon alloy wheels and gloss black mirror casings, while the interior gets seats in black with orange edging, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever gaiter with orange stitching.

    The Rock up!, which can only be specified as a three-door model, focuses around styling, with an anthracite stripe running the length of the car, a gloss black front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, rear spoiler and 16-inch Upsilon wheels. Once again the mirror casings are gloss black, except on Deep Black Pearl vehicles, which get chrome items. Inside the cabin customers have a choice of black or grey seats.

    Fitted with a 55 kW (75 hp) petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, both cars benefit for the usual High up! fare, including the Maps & More infotainment system air conditioning, heated front seats and remote central locking.

    Groove up! pricing starts at £11,640 for the three-door and £12,015 for the five-door, with the Rock up! costing £12,980.

  • Porsche 991 GT3 at the Nurburgring

    Unless you’ve seen one at a car show, it’ll probably be a few months before you get to witness Porsche’s new 991 GT3 model in the flesh, so here’s a video from Bridge To Gantry of the machine in action at the Nurburgring.

    The 350 kW (475 hp) track weapon hits 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, 200 km/h in less than 12 seconds, and enjoys a top speed of 315 km/h (195 mph). It also eclipses the 997 GT2’s ‘Ring time.

    Ingelheim’s Senner Tuning has released images and details of its Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.

    Already producing an impressive 420 kW (571 hp) and 650 Nm of torque, Senner adds a sports air filter and its own performance exhaust system with adjustable valve control, resulting in a 26 kW (35 hp) and 40 Nm improvement from the 6.2-litre V8 powerplant.

    The factory wheels have made way for a set of titanium grey Schmidt Gotham items, which measure 9 x 20-inches at the front and 11.5 x 21-inches on the rear and wear 255/30R20 and 295/25R21 Hankook S1 Evo tyres.

    Helping to drop this Roadster closer to the ground is a KW Variant 3 coilover suspension kit which features adjustable bump and rebound rates.

  • Behind the Porsche 991 RSR

    Porsche’s new 911 RSR has just finished its first race at the FIA World Endurance Championship in Silverstone, where it narrowly missed out on a podium position. In this video, the team talks about the preparation and testing that lead up to the season opener.

    Larger than its predecessor, and with a lower centre of gravity and better weight distribution, the 991 RSR utilizes carbon fibre for its front and rear wheel arch extensions, doors, underbody, rear wing, and quick-release front lid and rear panel. The same 338 kW (460 hp) 4.0-litre unit that saw service in last year’s 911 GT3 RSR has been retained for the 991, with gears in the six-speed transmission being changed via flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

  • 2013 Volkswagen Golf GTI review

    This latest video from Auto Express sees the magazine’s Mat Watson climb behind the wheel of Volkswagen’s brand new Golf GTI model.

    The seventh generation version is powered by the company’s 2.0 TSI engine, which develops 162 kW (220 hp) or 169 kW (230 hp) when specified with the new performance package, while torque rises to 350 Nm – 70 Nm up on the outgoing model. The extra power combined with the car’s lighter construction results in a 0-100 km/h time of 6.5 seconds and a 246 km/h top speed (performance package: 6.4s and 250 km/h).
