  • Audi announces A5 DTM Champion edition

    Audi A5 DTM Champion
    Audi is celebrating Mike Rockenfeller’s success in the DTM Championship by releasing a special ‘A5 DTM Champion’ model based on the A5 Coupe.

    Limited to just 300 units, unique features include DTM badges on the fenders, door sill trims and side sills, along with a body-coloured fixed rear wing, aluminium-look mirror casings and 20-inch alloy wheels in a five V-spoke design.

    Available to order from October 21 for an additional €1,900, colours include Misano Red, Daytona Grey and Glacier White, with a choice of four engines: the 130 kW (177 hp) 2.0 TDI quattro, 180 kW (245 hp) 3.0 TDI quattro, 165 kW (225 hp) 2.0 TFSI quattro and 200 kW (272 hp) 3.0 TFSI quattro.

  • Mercedes G-Class by Prior Design

    Mercedes-Benz G-Class by Prior Design
    Kamp-Lintfort styling specialist Prior Design has released new images of its body wide-body program to suit the current Mercedes G-Class.

    Constructed from Dura-Flex FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic), the aero package consists of a front bumper with fog lamps, rear bumper with diffuser section, a ventilated hood and set of widened wheel arch extensions.

    The kit weighs in at €12,900 or €6,900 for the non-wide version, while those 23-inch DPE alloy wheels will set you back €7,900 including tyres. The spare wheel cover is priced at €1,199.

  • Chris Harris and David Coulthard race a classic Mercedes at the Nurburgring

    This new video from DRIVE sees Chris Harris recruit ex-Formula One pilot David Coulthard and motoring journalist automobile journalist for a historic race at the Nurburgring.

    Actually put together by Mercedes Classic in the last few years, this immaculate 1964 Mercedes 220 Fintail Sedan weighs 1400 kilograms and boasts a 140 horsepower motor, so it was never going to keep with the Porsche 911s, was it?

    To quote Coulthard: “Minis are coming past us like Formula One cars on speed.”

  • SEAT Leon FR by JE Design

    SEAT Leon FR by JE Design
    Leingarten-based tuning company JE Design has released a range of options for the SEAT Leon FR.

    The aero package is constructed from carbon-look plastic and comprises of a front spoiler, side skirts and rear diffuser section with aperture for twin-double tailpipes attached to the new stainless steel muffler. A roof-level tailgate wing completes the body program.

    The company’s sport spring kit provides a drop of 30 mm, but owners with deeper pockets can specify a KW coilover system, which is adjustable for rebound and compression-damping and takes the hatchback down by as much as 65 mm. A range of wheel and tyre packages are also available in 18 and 19-inch diameters.

    Under the hood, JE applies its own ECU software to the 1.8-litre TSI unit, which sees output rise from 132 kW (180 hp) and 250 Nm of torque to 158 kW (215 hp) and 300 Nm, meaning the 0-100 km/h is reduced from 7.5 seconds to 6.9s, while top speed is raised from 226 km/h to 235 km/h.

    Mercedes SLS AMG by Pfaff Tuning
    Ontario-based Pfaff Tuning has completed a project based on the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster to offer customers a glimpse of what it can create.

    Sitting lower than standard on H&R sports springs, the SLS AMG wears a set of ADV.1 Wheels ADV8 Deep Concave alloy wheels along with a RENNtech front spoiler lip and rear diffuser constructed from clear coated carbon fibre.

    Under the bonnet Pfaff has fitted the AMG 6.2-litre V8 with ECU software and long tube headers by RENNtech, while the factory exhaust has been superseded by an Akrapovic system with adjustable valve control.

    In the past, air ride has been viewed as a modification reserved for owners of mini trucks, show cars and low riders who crave that ground-skimming stance but also like to avoid replacing their oil sump every few days. With today’s systems becoming evermore refined, Matt decided it was time to sample Accuair’s Audi S4 to see how it handled on the limit.
