  • Audi TT RS by PP-Performance and Cam Shaft

Audi TT RS by PP-Performance and Cam Shaft
Aftermarket specialists PP-Performance & Cam Shaft have joined forces to develop the TT RS Black & White Edition.

Carrying out the power upgrade, PP Performance remapped the ECU software and fitted a larger intercooler, new downpipes, a free-flowing 200 cell metal catalyst and uprated fuel pump. Those tweaks see output from the 2.5-litre TFSI five-cylinder engine jump from 250 kW (340 hp) and 450 Nm of torque to 346 kW (470 hp) and 650 Nm. A sintered metal clutch and ceramic brake system have also found their way onto the car.

The bonnet, wings, front lip, mirror casings, tailgate and rear wing are apparently carbon fibre replacements, while Cam Shaft applied a pearl white wrap to the body with gloss black details and matte black door jambs.

  • Rally Spain: more success for Volkswagen

    Rally Spain 2013
Following on from Sebastien Ogier’s drivers’ title, Volkswagen has clinched the World Rally Championship manufacturers’ crown after an impressive one-two in Spain today.

Ogier had been dominating the event by Friday evening, but a puncture on Saturday saw him slip down to sixth – behind the leading duo of team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala and Citroen’s Dani Sordo. By Sunday morning Latvala had extended his lead over Sordo to almost ten seconds, while Ogier shaved over thirty seconds off the gap, moving up into third position after Ford’s Thierry Neuville landed a puncture.

Ogier continued to be in a class of his own, passing Sordo for second before going after his fellow Polo R WRC driver. The Frenchman secured his third consecutive SS win and took the lead on the penultimate stage, but things went downhill for Latvala, who developed problems before his car crossed the line with flames coming from the engine bay. The Finn amazingly made it out for the final stage finishing second behind Ogier and one step on the podium above Citroen’s Mikko Hirvonen.

Andreas Mikkelsen in the third Polo had a disappointing weekend after going off on SS 04 and destroying his suspension. He returned to the rally on Sunday after failing to make it to the start of the next stage in time and immediately set the pace, but made a mistake in the dusty conditions and understeered into a ditch.

  • MINI releases 2014 Cooper S teaser

    2014 MINI Cooper S
Following on from initial details of the next-generation MINI, the company has revealed this darkened teaser of its new Cooper S model.

We’ve attempted to brighten the picture to reveal a little more detail and can make out the rounder radiator grille with integrated bumper section and honeycomb grille, while the headlights with eye-catching light ring for dipped-beam mode take inspiration from the Rocketman Concept.

Under the hood lies a 2.0-litre four-cylinder lump producing 141 kW (192 hp) and 280 Nm (300 Nm with overboost), which should be pretty potent in the JCW variant.

The new car is due to be in Oxford on November 18 – the birthday of Alec Issigonis.

  • Mercedes-Benz SLK program teased by ML24

    ML24 Mercedes SLK
Ontario-based automotive design and body kit specialist ML24 has thrown this Mercedes SLK design study out to gauge a response from potential customers.

Designed to suit the 2004 – 2011 SLK Class (R171), the widebody package takes inspiration from the Mercedes-Benz Black Series and DTM race cars with the main objective to revitalize the older generation variant with more modern and extreme styling.

The company admits that the finished article is unlikely to be this wild, but certain design elements will definitely make it into production. We like the aggressive fascia with monster air intakes and heavily-ventilated hood and fenders. That wing may need toning down just a little for road use.
