  • Volkswagen Golf by Low-Car-Scene and BlackBox-Richter

    Low-Car-Scene Volkswagen Golf
Low-Car-Scene and BlackBox-Richter have released details of their Light-Tron project based on the latest Volkswagen Golf.

Starting with a deep black pearl effect three-door model, BlackBox-Richter applied a ‘glow in the dark’ phosphor-foil wrap to the entire body, which features a custom front bumper constructed using the lower section of a Golf VI R-line item grafted onto the factory bumper. There’s also a de-badged radiator grille sitting below the smoothed bonnet. The multi-piece Rotiform SNA wheels, which measure 8 x 20-inches, feature wrapped rims with lacquered signal red centres and company emblems on their rears. An abundance of unsubtle LED lighting have been added to the wheel wells to highlight the names of the guilty parties.

Finally, a RideAir Version 3 air ride system drops the 140 hp (103 kW) 1.4 TSI hatchback to the ground, which Low-Car-Scene can provide for €3,600.

  • Audi TT ultra quattro Concept

    Audi TT ultra quattro Concept
In keeping with other brands in the Volkswagen Group, Audi will be taking something to the worthersee party in Austria (8 – 11 May), and this TT ultra quattro Concept is it.

Thanks largely to the fact that Audi has utilized carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) for the rear end, the center tunnel, in the B-pillars and in the roof, the TT ultra quattro Concept’s body undercuts the regular TTS’s – on which it is based on – by 100 kg. Other weight-saving measures include magnesium components in the floor and hinges, fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) suspension springs, a centrally-mounted titanium exhaust system and FRP bucket seats borrowed from the R8 GT. Wheels, constructed from a mixture of CFRP and aluminium also contribute to the Concept car’s amazing 300 kg weight loss.

Visually the crystal white car features CFRP on the hood, roof, rocker panels, front splitter, diffuser and rear wing, which is mounted on milled aluminum bases. CFRP is also used for the interior door trims, centre console and the cross-bracing that replaces the rear seat bench.

Rather than producing 200 kW (272 hp) and 350 Nm of torque, the TTS’s 2.0 TFSI engine has been tweaked to pump out 228 kW (310 hp) and 400 Nm, meaning 100 km/h appears in 4.2 seconds, 1.3s faster than the series vehicle, and top speed is 280 km/h (174 mph).

We’d love to see this car in production, but doubt that it is much more than a precursor to the third generation TT, which Audi has already revealed will be much lighter and more effective than the current model, and based on the Group’s MQB platform.
