This Maybach Excelero put on a display at the recent Goodwood Festival.
The Excelero was built for tyre company Fulda as a test vehicle for the development of their high-speed tyres.
The cars basic underpinnings are based largely on the Maybach production car, but the body is an all carbon fibre affair built in Italy by Stola. It’s still a heavyweight though, tipping the scales at over two and a half tons.
Its 700 bhp 5.9L V12 is capable of projecting the vulgar looking coupe to 220 mph.
Apparently Maybach built a coupe for Fulda in 1939, specifically to test tyres for the newly built autobahns. Unfortunately, during WW2 it disappeared .
Lets hope this one follows in its footsteps.
