Rumours are circulating of a new high power BMW Mini straight from the factory.
The next generation uber-Mini won’t quite be upto the power of the Works GP model (218 bhp), but won’t be far off with around 210 bhp expected from its 1.6L turbocharged powerplant.
The engine is said to be capable of producing 230 bhp, but BMW will turn down it down a few notches to maintain driveabilty.
It’s possible that the new Mini won’t wear the ‘Works’ badge or even be developed by the legendary John Cooper Garages.
No doubt they’ll still use the ‘Cooper’ name…
