Audi are to produce diesel versions of their next generation TT.
The Ingolstadt company have yet to release details of which units they’ll be using, but the V6 is known to be too wide to squeeze into the TT’s engine bay. A more realistic option, would be the Volkswagen 2L four cylinder engine from their Golf and Passat models.
Audi are hoping they can dispel any suggestions that a diesel car can’t be sporty, after making history with their dominance in the recent Le Mans 24 hour race with the awesome R10.
The association with agricultural vehicles has long gone, with most manufacturers producing at least one diesel model. Evolution has seen them become more refined and user friendly.
Rumours of a diesel powered Veyron, are as yet unfounded!
