BMW Mini Celebrates Its Fifth Birthday

The Mini will celebrate five years of production on July 7th, selling around 800,000 vehicles in that time.

MINI UK General Manager, Andy Hearn said “MINI’s instant UK hit has been mirrored around the world, from South Korea to Spain, the US to China. The car’s design, great driving dynamics and ownership experience set it apart from the competition. Five years on, MINI is still winning group tests against new competitors, and quality and safety are second-to-none.”

There have been eight different models to date, including a diesel version, cabriolet, Cooper and Cooper S. The most powerful of the bunch, being the limited edition Cooper S Works GP, which produced 218 bhp. It sold out instantly.

Sales are at an all time high and show no signs of slowing down. Expect new versions in the near future, including a model based on the classic Mini Traveller.
