Lamborghinis plans of building an SUV to rival the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, have been dropped by the supercar manufacturer.
Ideas of an uber-saloon, (as a successor to the seventies Espada) have also been shelved. Their president Stephan Winkelmann stated “I’m a fan of SUVs, but making one isn’t on the radar for this decade. We’re such a small company, we couldn’t do one on our own. Still, it would make more sense for us to do one of those than a four-seater.â€
He went on to add that Lamborghini will turn their attentions to developing different versions of their Murcielago and Gallardo models, with the possiblity of some two wheel drive versions, and a weight loss program.
