  • Skoda teases MissionL concept ahead of Frankfurt

Skoda has announced that it will be adding a sixth model to its range of vehicles, and this, the MissionL concept, is a near-production version of said car.

We’ve brightened the images slightly to give you a better idea of its looks, and, as some of you may have noticed, it bears many similarities to the company’s Vision D concept, revealed earlier in the year, particularly its face – albeit with taller headlights, wheel arches and those cool, flush-fitting door handles. The main difference is the style of those c-pillars, but the MissionL concept looks have got the better side of the deal.

Skoda says the car will be launched Europe, China and Russia, and be specified in different forms for each of those markets. For example, this is a five-door ‘liftback’ model, but India will receive its own compact saloon version.

  • DTM: One-two-three for Audi at Brands Hatch

Drivers from all three Audi teams took a step on the podium at today’s Brands Hatch DTM race. Germany’s Martin Tomczyk came out on top, during a rain-soaked afternoon, claiming his third race victory of the season in the Team Phoenix A4 car, and moving to the top of the points standings in the process.

Initially, polesitter Mike Rockenfeller took the lead, closely followed by Mattias Ekström, who overtook the Mercedes of Britain’s Gary Paffett at “Paddock Hill Bend”. By the second lap, Tomczyk and Mortara also passed Paffett as well, meaning four Audi A4 DTM cars were occupying the first four places.

Ex-formula One driver, Ralf Schumacher, put an end to that potential dream result by driving his Mercedes into Rockenfeller’s car, resulting in a spin – and sixth place. “I don’t understand that he didn’t receive a penalty for that,” said the disgruntled Audi driver.
