  • Hamann wide body conversion for the Panamera


    Laupheim-based tuning specialist, Hamann Motorsport, has released details of it program for Porsche’s Panamera. Based around a wide-arched bodykit, the conversion consists of replacement front wings and rear arch extensions, which add 60 mm to the width of the car. There’s also a new front bumper – featuring massive intakes and LED daytime running lights, vented bonnet, side skirts, a colossal rear wing and vented rear bumper which is dominated by those imposing twin tailpipes, that look like they may have taken some inspiration from the Veyron Super Sport.

    Filling those bulging arches, Hamann offers a choice of its Unique Forged “Gunmetal” or Edition Race “Anodized” wheels in sizes 9.5 and 11×20-inch. The company also adds its electronic lowering module, which drops the Panamera approximately 30 mm closer to the road.

    If you’re wanting a little extra power, Hamann can remap your ECU. For models such as the Panamera Turbo, output jumps from 500 hp/368 kW to 550 hp/405 kW, with torque rising from 700 Nm to 770 Nm.

    Inside, Hamann can provide anything your heart desires, from items such as velour floor mats, aluminium pedals and sports steering wheels to complete retrims, using materials such as Alcantara, leather, aluminium and carbon.

  • Alpina reveals B6 Bi-turbo Convertible


    ALPINA has revealed its B6 Bi-Turbo Convertible program, which gives the BMW 6 Series some serious clout. Powered by a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 unit similar to the one found in BMW’s new F10 M5, the B6 has slightly less power, at 507hp (373kW), but a higher torque figure of of 700Nm. Those horses are transferred to the road via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, resulting in a 0-100km/h (62 mph) of just 4.8 seconds, and a missile-like top speed of 311km/h (193 mph). The B6 also benefits from a new high-performance titanium exhaust, jointly-developed with Akrapovic, it’s half of the weight of a stainless steel version.

    Visually, Alpina adds a front spoiler with the integrated splitter constructed from carbon fibre, while around the rear there’s a subtle boot lid spoiler and lower valance complete with diffuser. The look is completed with the addition of the company’s timeless ‘Classic’ lightweight wheels in 20-inch diameter.

    Audi has released two new trailers featuring its extreme R8 GT Spyder model. Powered by a 560 hp 5.2L V10 unit, the Spyder cracks 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 317 km/h (197 mph). (more…)

  • Maybach celebrates with special Edition 125! model


    Maybach has built a one-off model celebrating 125 years, and named it the Edition 125! Founded by Wilhelm Maybach and his son, the company was originally a subsidiary of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH and known as Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH until 1912. Of course, today, the brand is owned by Daimler AG and based in Stuttgart, but still synonymous with decadence, as this unique example proves.

    Two newly paint colours have been created specifically for the Edition 125! – Tahiti Black and Patagonia Silver, while the grille is also a bespoke item. The 20-inch diameter wheels have been anodised black before having their faces highly polished.

    The opulence carries on inside the cabin, with the hide receiving silver-coloured stitching, which is also used to recreate Wilhelm Maybach’s signature on the lid of the glove compartment. Other trim elements are finished in silver carbon fibre and black piano lacquer.

  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale in Frankfurt


    Here’s a good look around Lamborghini’s newly-announced Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Limited to just 150 units, the winged wonder Weighs in at 1340 kg – 70 kg down on the regular LP 570-4 – helping it to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and 200 km/h just 10.4 s later.   • Volkswagen reveals Caddy Edition 30


    As a celebration of the Volkswagen Caddy’s 30th birthday next year, the Wolfsburg manufacturer has revealed this near-production concept, the Caddy Edition 30. Visually the special model features a high gloss black roof with matching rails, and wears a set of highly-polished 17-inch alloy wheels.

    The interior can be specified in a five or seven-seat configuration, and features Alcantara trim, climate control and a multi-function steering wheel.

    Available to order as a car or panel van, the Caddy Edition 30 will come with a choice of four powerplants: a 75 or 125 kW TDI engine, a 77 kW TSI petrol unit, and – at the top of the tree – a 2.0 TDI producing 125 kW/170 PS and 350 Nm of torque. The DSG transmission helps the Caddy to accelerate to its top speed of 196 km/h.
