  • BMW to share i3 and i8 materials

    BMW i3
BMW has confirmed that it will utilize materials from the company’s new i3 and i8 in other models across its range.

Head of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, revealed that we are unlikely to see complete carbon fibre bodyshells for mainstream vehicles, but the material will be used on specific sections where it can be of most benefit.

Cutting-edge interior materials such as open-pored eucalyptus wood, hemp and the roof plastic, which is manufactured from recycled bottles, may feature in future high-volume cars, with processes such as dying leather using an olive leaf extract could replace the current industrial method.

  • Porsche Macan testing in the desert

    Porsche Macan
Porsche has released a video of the company’s forthcoming Macan during desert testing in Dubai ahead of its unveiling in Los Angeles on November 20.

The Macan takes many styling cues from its larger sibling the Cayenne, while its face features C-shaped lighting units housing the indicators and sidelights – known as C-Blades – mounted in the large air inlets and four-pronged LED headlight units similar to those seen on the company’s Panamera Sport Turismo.

Sharing the same Volkswagen Group MLB platform as the new Audi Q5, the Macan will be built alongside the Cayenne and Panamera in Leipzig, with powered rumoured to come from a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 in the S and a 295 kW (395 hp) twin-turbo 3.6-litre in the Turbo, with both variants using a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

  • DMC Lamborghini Aventador DIECI

    DMC Lamborghini Aventador DIECI
Duesseldorf-based tuning specialist DMC has revealed details of its Lamborghini Aventador DIECI (Italian for ten) program, with the first recipient heading to Kuwait.

Built to mark the production of the company’s fortieth Aventador package, DMC will only offer the DIECI to every tenth customer. Components comprise an aggressive carbon fibre front spoiler with splitter lip and winglets on the outer edges of the bumper, restyled side skirts, a brutal diffuser and tunnel, and a raised SuperVeloce-style rear wing.

The performance upgrade sees DMC ditch the factory injection system in favour of 12 separate single intake throttle plates, uprated fuel pumps and nozzles and optimized ECU software. The 6.5-litre V12 is topped off with a titanium exhaust system that tips the scales at just 3.45 kg, resulting in an output of 671 kW (900 hp).
