  • Race debut in Abu Dhabi for Bentley’s Continental GT3

    Bentley Continental GT3
A decade after the company’s 24 Hours of Le Mans win, Bentley’s new Continental GT3 race car is set to make its competitive debut at this year’s Gulf 12 Hours two-part endurance race in Abu Dhabi.

Built in partnership with Malcolm Wilson’s M-Sport outfit, the Continental GT3 is powered by a race-spec version of the road car’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 using Cosworth management and a dry-sump system. Producing 447 kW (600 hp) in unrestricted guise, power is sent to the rear wheels via a carbon fibre propshaft connected to an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission with a limited slip differential, while flappy paddles on the steering wheel actuate the pneumatic shift system.

The race will take place on December 13 at Yas Marina circuit.

  • Road-legal Formula Ford EcoBoost takes on the Germans

Formula Ford EcoBoost takes on the Germans
Autocar’s latest video answers a question that nobody has ever asked; how would a sub-500 kg Formula Ford EcoBoost racecar acquit itself against an Audi R8 V10, a BMW M6 Gran Coupe and a Mercedes A 45 AMG in different environments?

The Ford, essentially a track car fitted with mudguards and lights, utilizes a tweaked version of the Fiesta’s three cylinder 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, which now develops 149 kW (200 hp) allowing a scorching Nurburgring time of just 7:22. It’s also capable of sipping as little as 2.4 litres every 100 kilometres (118 mpg).

But can you drive it to work with a mug of coffee on the dashboard or the decomposing corpse of an irritating neighbour in the boot?
