Rumours are rife that Mercedes will be showing a four door convertible based on their flagship saloon, the S Class, at The Detroit Motor Show in January 2007.
It’s said to have the longest roof ever seen on a convertible, and owners can expect the interior equipment level to have the same exceptional quality as found on all S Class models. Power for the uber rag-top is likely to be in the form of their 6L V12.

Volkswagen have announced this week that the production of their newly resurrected Scirocco will take place in Setubal, Portugal.
The legendary Scirocco first appeared on our streets in the seventies, before being replaced by the Corrado model in the late eighties.
Porsche have released details of their road racer version of the 997. The legendary term ‘RS’ will set the pulses racing of 911 fans and track day enthusiasts alike, and this model seems set to be a worthy successor to that title.
The body is 44mm wider than its GT3 cousin, thanks to the use of a Carrera 4 shell. The RS is also 20kg lighter than the GT3 model, with the help of a carbon fibre rear wing, plastic boot lid and rear window. Further weight is shaved from the car by the way of lightweight carbon composite bucket seats. Once you’re sat inside the car there’s a full roll cage, six point harnesses and a fire extinguisher, just to remind you of its sporting credentials.
The motoring world seems to have been waiting an eternity for Audi’s newly redesigned TT to surface. It was never going to be easy replacing what is obviously a design classic, but it looks as though they’ve got it just right.
Their range is topped with the 3.2 litre V6, but this Golf GTI engined front wheel drive version is certainly no slouch, hitting 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 149 mph.
Perhaps best known for their record breaking 250 mph 911, 9ff have turned their attentions to the Cayman.
The already striking Cayman’s looks are enhanced with an aerodynamic package as well as a set of centre lock forged aluminium wheels.
Photos of the new Mercedes CL Coupe have been unofficially leaked onto the internet today.
It’s believed the CL Coupe will share many components with the S-Class saloon car, although it seems to have softer and more curvaceous lines than its four door brother.
The car in the photos seems to be one of the tamer models from the range, with a reported 3.7L V6 power plant. However, it is hoped that AMG will make their mark on the coupe, giving it a 6.3L V12, producing an almighty 600 bhp.
