Volkswagen has revealed its customized 245 kW (329 hp) Golf GTI Cabriolet Austria to fans attending the GTI Festival at the Worthersee Lake.

Based on the regular Golf GTI Cabriolet model, the Cabriolet Austria has been created by apprentice automotive mechanics, interior fitters, model makers and paint technicians from Wolfsburg and Osnabruck. Finished in Oryx White mother-of-pearl effect paintwork with contrasting Flash Red striping on each side of the bonnet and down the car’s flanks along with colour-coded front strakes, mirror casings, boot lid spoiler and brake calipers. A set of black multi-piece five spoke alloy wheels completes the exterior.

Moving inside, there’s a pair of ‘Austria’ embossed Recaro sports seats in black and red with white shells, while the door and dashboard trims, air vent trims, seat belts and floor mat bordering are also red. Completing the transformation is an eleven speaker sound system with 2,250 watts output, which resides where the rear seats are normally found.

“I’ve learned a lot about project work, and how important team work is,” said Kevin Hoffmann, a junior automotive mechatronics technician.
