Audi is maintaining its successful efficiency strategy: the new Audi Q5, the sports car in the SUV category, is its latest model to combine high performance with low consumption. This progress is underpinned by an extensive package of hi-tech solutions ranging from energy recuperation to engine downsizing.
The guys over at Web Rides TV have been pitting the Corvette LS3 against Audi’s R8. Both cars have 400+bhp powerplants and similar 0-60 times, but the R8 would set you back twice as much as its American rival.

INGOLSTADT – July 10, 2008: The formal idiom of the Audi Design soccer table reflects the Audi design philosophy without incorporating any individual elements or shapes from specific vehicle models. “Every product created by the Audi Design Team should be recognizable as such without looking like an adapted vehicle”, remarked Carsten Monnerjan, Head of Concept Design Munich. “Abstract characteristics are translated so as to give a product that typical Audi look but without actually turning it into a car.”
The 2008 Auto Union Type-D concept is a creation of Lukas Vanek, a young designer from the Czech Republic. In 2008 Vanek graduated from the Europeo di Design (IED) in Torino, Italy after completing a three year postdiploma transportation design course. Prior to these studies Vanek had finished a masters course in industrial design at the TBU university in Zlin, where he was awarded a scholarship to study at IED.
INGOLSTADT – July 9, 2008: Minister President Dr Günther Beckstein has presented the Bavarian Sport Award 2008 in the “outstanding promoter of sport” category to AUDI AG. The jury primarily recognised the support provided to athletes in many different disciplines as well as the innovative training opportunities made available.
AUDI AG sold more than 516,000 cars to customers worldwide between January and June (2007: 508,842). This represents a gain of 1.4 percent compared with the first six months of 2007. In June, Audi sold around 90,000 cars (2007: 88,846). The premium car brand is expecting significant growth mainly in the second half of the year, thanks to market launches of important high-volume models.
