TRIPLE WIN FOR AUDI IN “AUTO TROPHY”

INGOLSTADT/BERLIN, Germany, Nov 25, 2009 – Readers of the motoring magazine “Auto Zeitung” have voted three Audi models top of their classes in the “Auto Trophy 2009.” More than 104,000 readers took part in the poll.

The Audi A5 Sportback, Audi R8 Spyder and Audi Q5 picked up three of the year’s most coveted awards in the readers’ poll. Audi also took first place in the Image Report for car brands for the sixth time in a row. The brand with the four rings has now won the coveted prize of the “Auto Trophy” 43 times in the award’s 22-year history. The prizes were awarded yesterday evening during a gala event at Berlin’s Meilenwerk.

In the midsize category, 27.2 percent of participants voted for the Audi A5 Sportback. Already successful in the “Golden Steering Wheel” competition, this model, the most recent addition to the Audi range, has thus already won two of the most famous awards in Germany straight after its market launch.

Even before its launch, the Audi R8 Spyder won the category “Convertibles over 30,000 euros” with 16.2 percent of the vote. This open-top mid-engine sports car won through against another Audi model: the Audi A5 Cabriolet finished second in this category.

The sporty Audi Q5 SUV (14.9 percent) completed Audi’s triple win in the category “Off-road vehicles over 30,000 euros.” The brand’s excellent results in the various vehicles categories were rounded out by the Audi A3 Cabriolet, the Audi S5, the Audi R8 and the already mentioned Audi A5 Cabriolet, which were each runners-up in their categories, and the Audi A6 and the Audi A3 with third places.

Audi once again also proved unbeatable in the Image Report: Readers of the magazine had a choice of 50 car brands. And for the sixth time in a row, they chose the brand with the four rings (40.3 percent).

The Auto Trophy was awarded for the 22nd time this year. More than 104,000 readers of “Auto Zeitung” voted on 370 models in 27 categories.
