SPORTIER EDGE AND IMPROVED FUEL CONSUMPTION FOR BMW 6 SERIES

MULGRAVE, AUSTRALIA – November 19, 2009: BMW has introduced a sportier edge, as well as improved fuel consumption, for its new 6 Series Sport Coupé and Convertible. The updated sports cars arrive in BMW dealerships this month.

BMW 6-Series

Brake Energy Regeneration joins the standard equipment list, improving fuel consumption by up to 6.8 per cent, to ensure maximum efficiency without sacrificing performance.

The technology is part of BMW’s EfficientDynamics repertoire. It reduces fuel consumption by generating electric power from energy otherwise wasted as lost heat in the brake system.

The 650i Sport Coupé records a 5.4 per cent reduction in fuel use, and is now rated at 10.5 litres per 100 km on the combined cycle (previously 11.1 litres).

Fuel consumption for the 650i Sport Convertible improves by 6.8 per cent, for a new combined cycle rating of 10.9 litres per 100 km (previously 11.7 litres).

New to both models is a contoured engine
compartment lid with arrow-shaped character lines, new 19-inch light allow wheels (previously 18-inch) with low profile tyres (245/40 front and 275/35 rear), BMW Individual high-gloss shadow line, tailpipes in dark chrome and an exhaust system with a distinctive sound character.

Other changes include the fitment of the newest generation iDrive control system. It introduces a new high resolution 8.8” monitor with professional navigation, high-definition TV and 80GB hard drive. Up to 12 GB is available for audio files. The navigation data is now stored in the navigation system itself and a navigation DVD is no longer required. Update of the data is completed at the dealership via the car’s USB interface.

Sport seats in four choices of leather trim, an M leather steering wheel, interior strips in brushed aluminium (which can be changed at no extra cost for Birch Grain or Maple Grain fine-wood trim), an anthracite-coloured BMW Individual roof liner and a lighting package define the sporty character of the interior.

Two new exterior colours, Imola Red and Carbon Black, are also now available. The standard upholstery in both vehicles is exclusive Pearl leather which is available, at no additional cost, in Saddle Brown light, Chateau, Cream Beige or Black.

Powered by BMW’s V8 VALVETRONIC power plant, displacing 270kW and developing 490 Newton meters of torque, the 650i Sport Coupe
accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds. Similarly, the BMW 650i Sport Convertible completes the task in just 5.6 seconds. Both models are equipped with Dynamic Drive, ensuring exceptional handling, greater comfort and enhanced safety.
