DSV ATHLETES GEAR UP FOR NEW SEASON WITH AUDI

Sleek outfit and individual mobility: The athletes of the German Ski Association (DSV) received their team-wear for the Olympic season at adidas and, at the same time, their new Audi company cars. The keys were handed over to them by the brand new DTM Champion Timo Scheider. While the selection of models varied, the whole team chose the same color: All athletes will be driving cars sporting an elegant quartz-gray.

Three days after the new alpine ski season kicked off in Sölden, the DSV aces received their new Audi vehicles at the “World of Sports” corporate headquarters of adidas – with the best wishes from the old and new DTM Champion Timo Scheider. “It was a great year for me and of course the DTM title defense was the pinnacle. I’d like to thank the Audi team which enabled me to achieve these exploits,” said Scheider, who handed out the keys to athletes, coaches and officials. “I wish the DSV aces just as much success in this season that is so important for them, particularly at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. With Audi, they’ve got the perfect partner at their side.”

The clear favorite of the DSV squad is the Audi A4 Avant with a 3.0-liter TDI engine. The most prominent drivers trusting this powerful and elegant model with an ample space offering are the fourth-placed finisher of the 2009 World Championship in slalom events, Felix Neureuther, the two-time cross-country skiing World Champion Axel Teichmann and the three-time biathlon Olympic winner in Turin, Michael Greis.

The DSV team of coaches predominantly opted for the Audi Q7. Sports director Wolfgang Maier, biathlon men’s coach Frank Ullrich and Jochen Behle, who is responsible for cross-country skiing, value the Q7’s comfort, suitability for day-to-day driving and sporty performance.

“Audi’s commitment in competition skiing has a long and successful tradition. Dynamism, elegance, perfect technology and competitions at the highest international level – these are values of competition skiing which also perfectly fit Audi,” says Lothar Korn, Head of Marketing Communications of AUDI AG. “We look forward to the skiing season and particularly to being able to accompany the young German team on its way to the Olympic Games.”

The partnership between AUDI AG and the DSV has been in existence for a quarter of a century now. Last year, it was extended early by another three years up to and including the 2010/2011 season. Besides supporting the DSV as the main sponsor, Audi supports the alpine national teams Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, France, Liechtenstein, Italy, Bulgaria and the Netherlands as well as athletes from Austria and the United States. In addition, AUDI AG is the title sponsor of the FIS Ski World Cup.
