VIDEO: MERCEDES-BENZ – PROTECTION BY RUN-FLAT TYRES

Here’s a look at the impressive tyres featured on Mercedes-Benz’s Guard models. With the tyres deflated, the vehicle is still able to cover up to 50 kilometres at a speed of 80 km/h to enable its occupants to escape from the danger area in the event of a corresponding attack. Slalom-tastic.

I think BMW was the 1st with run flats. And why reserve this technology to the “Guard” models?? BMW has already made these available to almost all their vehicles types!

I seem to remember Porsche used run-flats as standard on their 959 – over twenty years ago. I don’t know why BMW supply run-flats on so many of their cars. Personally, I don’t like the extra cost, shorter life span or harsher ride they provide. I’m not the only one!

I can see their benefits on a Guard, especially the ones with the extra section fastened to the rim.
