Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, suffered a setback in a perpetually difficult market environment in June 2009 in North America. With 1,072 vehicles sold, deliveries to customers in North America were 62 percent below last year’s figures. While the sports car manufacturer was able to increase the number of deliveries in Canada by 6 percent to 170 units, the number in the USA fell to 902 units.
In the month under review, 449 units from the 911 series were delivered, which means a 40 percent decline. Deliveries of the Cayenne series fell by 72 percent to 336 vehicles. Customers in North America purchased 287 units of the mid-engine sports cars Boxster and Cayman, this represents a 66 percent decline. Of those, 134 vehicles were the Cayman.
Porsche has placed great hope in the market launch of the four-passenger Panamera Gran Turismo, which will be introduced to the North American market in October 2009 and may give car sales the shot in the arm it needs.
