Stuttgart. The Porsche Motorsport family of partners grows again in 2009, defying the current overall trend for sponsors to pull out of motorsport. Aside from sales of 214 race cars of the 911 GT3 Cup model, Porsche Motorsport is very pleased about the new partners and the continuation of proven alliances.

After the C. & A. Veltins brewery came on-board in 2008 as team partner in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup as well as series partner in the Transsyberia Rally and the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the brand partnership between Veltins and Porsche now has an even broader basis in 2009. In addition to the involvement with the Veltins MRS team in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, the brewery is on-board as partner in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, the Porsche Sports Cup, Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and in Porsche Club racing. With this, Veltins products are now available in all of Porsche’s gastronomy areas and are served at all events that take place under the organisation of Porsche. Recently, Veltins launched its new Veltins crate which was developed in cooperation with Porsche Design. The crate motive appears in all communications and backs up the product appearance on the circuit.
With the timepiece brand “Tudor” Porsche has won another strong brand for Porsche motorsport. As “Timing Partner Porsche Motorsport” the timepiece company has committed to a long term alliance with Porsche. Tudor, a brand of Rolex, is the official partner of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, and is present at all Formula 1-supporting Carrera Cup races. The partnership was timed to coincide with Tudor’s market launch of a new high-end collection of watches with the name “Grantour”. The first presentation of the new creation, where images of road-homologated Porsche sports cars are utilized in its communications, could be seen at the Basel World Trade Fair from 26 March to 2 April.
After the kick-off at the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup race in Spa-Francorchamps in September 2008, Henkel has become a series partner with the Loctite brand in the 2009 Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. Planned communication campaigns are mainly testimonials with Porsche workshops and teams. A production vehicle contains more than 20 kilograms of glue – good reason for Loctite to be present as supplier and official partner in Porsche Motorsport.
Another new official supplier and series partner to the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland is workshop outfitter F?rch. The long-established company from Swabia will utilize Porsche Motorsport workshops as reference for its own products.
At the beginning of the season, the newly created special classification “Rookie of the Year” was introduced in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup, with long-standing supplier BBS as presenter including a prize money of 25,000 Euro. With its broadened involvement, the company is now the official series partner of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup.
Lens specialist Sigma has moved from a series partner to become a team partner. In 2009 Sigma joins forces as co-partner to the Konrad Motorsport squad, which currently leads the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup championship. The partnership is linked to the Sigma/Springer Media cooperation “Germany’s best photographer” and the winner of the campaign will be announced at the final round of the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup.
Coming on-board as a new partner for exclusive design furniture and outfitter of the Porsche Hospitality in 2009 is Home & Living design brand Rolf Benz. Guests to Porsche’s Carrera Cup Hospitality can also enjoy the products from Darboven and WMF. And, of course, the drink of choice is a fresh Veltins served in the Porsche Motorsport Hospitalities.
Moreover, Porsche can still count on the on-going support from existing partners. Cooperation partners Mobil1 and Michelin continue to be represented in Porsche Motorsport around the world. ZF Sachs and Brembo are again active as partners in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. Moreover, ZF Sachs backs all works-supported Porsche racing activities in the GT2 class and in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland together with Emitec, Pagid, Fein and Aral, which with the supply of fuel to teams makes a contribution to Porsche racing customers. Hazet, Johnson Matthey, MAN, Thur Metall, NEC and Beissbarth are engaged as official suppliers to Porsche Motorsport. Another official supplier is the sports clothing specialist Adidas and the race gear company Stand21. For business clothing, the new fashion label Strellson has been acquired.
“We are delighted with the broad support given by our existing and renewed partnerships. And we’re proud to welcome the support from strong, new brands like Tudor, Veltins, Loctite and BBS. The fact that we have gained new partners in difficult times shows that the marketing concept for the motorsport activities of Porsche AG has paid off,” said Florian Kurz, Head of Business Relations at Porsche Motorsport. “Our partners receive a strong communications and event instrument in association with the Porsche brand with a measurable added value.”
