The SEAT Ibiza was the recipient of the prestigious Red Dot Award in Essen yesterday in the Product Design 2009 category. This prize is a tribute to the quality, precision and innovative design of the Spanish car’s 5-door and SC versions. The 5 door version of the Ibiza received the highest distinction, the “Best of the Best” award for its high quality design, while the SC took the “Red Dot” award for outstanding quality.

The E-Guard meets the stringent requirements for High-Protection according to protection class VR4 (formerly B4) and more. This means that the vehicle is able to withstand handgun bullets of up to .44 Magnum in calibre — at random angles of fire, to provide the most realistic protection possible.

The new Audi navigation system plus with MMI (Multi Media Interface) operating logic in the A3, TT and R8 offers improved screen resolution and unmatched route calculation speed. The radio-navigation system, version E (RNS-E), can be combined with the Audi music interface and reads up to 32 GB SD memory cards. The new system is available immediately and costs between 2,270 and 2,565 euros, depending on the model.

SEAT has turned the Leon a bit sportier by giving it a new facelift. Modest design adjustments give the brawny Spaniard a more dynamic appearance. JE DESIGN follows this line and turns the modified model into a thoroughbred sports car. At the same time as the new Leon is introduced to the market, the refiner also offers his entire Leon facelift programme.

Top times for TECHART at this year’s Tuner Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring race track. Behind the wheel of the TECHART GTstreet RS based on Porsche’s 911 GT2, racing driver Jörg Hardt left the competition with no chance and won the duel in the GT Turbo class. This meant that he was able to repeat last year’s victory. The sport auto Tuner Grand Prix is the world’s largest trial of strength in the tuning sector.

Here’s a few images of what appears to be the forthcoming Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2. Last week, our followers on Twitter may have seen us mention the car in question, but at that time, no photos existed. Set to compete with Ferrari’s new F450, the “Balboni Special Edition” LP550-2’s slightly de-tuned V10 will pack a 550ps punch through its rear wheels via a manual ‘box. The LP550-2 enjoys a 30kg weight reduction and 10% price reduction over the LP560-4, meaning a 0-100km/h time of 3.9 seconds.

Berlin/Stuttgart – Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin Spring/Summer 2010, which takes place July 1 to 4, 2009, is breaking all existing records. For the first time, more than 30 labels are showing their collections. Among the new participants are Anja Gockel, BOSS Orange, CUSTO Barcelona, Deanoor, Escada Vintage, GANT, Lena Hoschek and Patrick Mohr. This merely confirms that the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin has reached the highest echelons of the international fashion world and Berlin has regained its prominence as an important fashion capital.
