SEAT’s range of ecological cars keeps growing.The original Ibiza ECOMOTIVE spearheaded a new line that was soon followed by the León and Alhambra models. After the recent launch of the fourth generation Ibiza, the new ECOMOTIVE version is available. Now even more conservation-oriented, the new car achieves a best-in-class emissions figure of only 98 g/km of CO2 and lowers fuel consumption to 3.7 litres per 100 kilometres.

The BMW Motorsport squad of Formula One drivers (Robert Kubica, Nick Heidfeld and Christian Klien), FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) works drivers and the junior racers from Formula BMW were joined by over 500 guests at the Postpalast venue in central Munich on Saturday evening for the end-of-year party and Sports Trophy presentation.

Audi aims to demonstrate “Vorsprung durch Technik” specifically in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Audi is just one victory behind Ferrari in the French endurance classic’s all time winners’ list following its eighth victory last June. Only Porsche has more wins at Le Mans.

The judging panel was made up of members of the road test team and journalists from Top Gear magazine, the country’s biggest selling motoring and most widely read men’s magazine, and topgear.com which boasts two million unique users a month.

Munich. The world record in the men’s 100 meters stands at 9.69 seconds, whilst a BMW M3 Coupe is capable of reaching 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Starting today, three-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt knows what it feels like to travel at both speeds because the 22-year old Jamaican was able to experience the outstanding driving characteristics of his future sports car while driving it to its limits at the BMW Vehicle Test Facility in Aschheim near Munich.

Stuttgart. In the new Porsche Museum the final preparations are made for the opening on Saturday 31 January 2009. At last, now that the scaffolding has been removed, it is possible to see to the full extent the bold architecture of the building at the head office premises of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG in Zuffenhausen: The 5,600 square metres of exhibition space are supported on just three so-called cores of reinforced concrete – hence just seeming to hover in space. Inside the building the majority of approximately 80 exhibits are already in place.

On 18 October the workforce at Mercedes-Benz MiniBus GmbH celebrated “10 years of the Mercedes-Benz minibus”. EvoBus first entered the minibus segment in 1998, and today the 220 employees of this Dortmund-based company produce around 1200 vehicles annually. This gives the company an approx. 7 percent share of the European bus market for vehicles between 3.5 and 5 t gross vehicle weight. MiniBus GmbH combines line-based series production with the advantages of a high content of craftsmanship. Individual minibus solutions in traditional Mercedes-Benz quality are the keystone of the company’s success.

Last week saw the Automobili Lamborghini development team and engineers from tyre partner Pirelli put the Gallardo Super Trofeo through its paces on the Vallelunga Race Track outside Rome. This marked the first tests under simulated race conditions, with Lamborghini test driver Giorgio Sanna behind the wheel. From the very outset, the lap times achieved were faster than any ever recorded with a single-brand trophy race car on this track.
