24HR RACE AUDI R8 SURFACES
Posted 16th May, 2008 in Audi | 4 Comments
These photos of the new Audi R8 race car have surfaced. It’ll be lining up for the same 24-hour Nurburgring race as Volkswagen’s equally-menacing Scirocco. The engine size is decreased to 4.0L, producing 530HP @ 7.800 rpm and 480NM @ 7.000 rpm. Weight is 1.250kg. The exhaust system is custom made by Eisenmann, crankshaft by Omesa and pistons by Mahle. This is an effort by Michael Düchting, Bilstein and Sport Auto called 24h-Project 2008: Blue-Tec. It will race in the SP7 class.

Any chance this ride will appear at Le Mans? And are there privateers rumored to be waiting for the TDI version for Le Mans 2009 or 2010?

Hi Bill,
All we know is that it was built for the 24-hour Nurburgring race, but apparently, didn’t even start.
We weren’t aware of the V12 TDI model going into production?

It was breathing oil into the catch can badly.
we were in the same pitts as them, they worked very hard, but just could not get the problem sorted before the race started.
pity.
