VOLKSWAGEN SCIROCCO AND OPEL ASTRA GTC COMPARED

The guys at Auto Zeitung have been comparing two similarly-priced German Coupes: Volkswagen’s brand-new Scirocco and the Opel Astra GTC.

The 1.4L dual-charged TSI-powered Scirocco’s 160bhp is 19bhp behind the 1.6L turbocharged Astra, but manages to hit 100km/h in 8 seconds dead (0.2S quicker than the Opel). The Astra just takes the top speed crown with 223km/h (138mph), but the ‘rocco isn’t exactly eating its dust at 217km/h (135mph). As stated, the price of these front-wheel-drive Coupes is almost identical, but the Scirocco will leave you with more change in your pocket, with a price tag of 23,500 euros, while the Astra costs 23,745 euros.
