Auto Express has revealed a few more details regarding Bugatti’s forthcoming targa-topped Veyron. It didn’t take rocket science to figure out that the chassis would need beefing up to make up for the lack of rigidity brought about by the original roof’s removal. Webasto (the people responsible for Volkswagen’s Eos roof) are developing the removable glass roof section to fill the void.

Germany - Purist sportiness and compelling performance, combined with sensational efficiency, Audi is setting the trends yet again. The Audi TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro and Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TDI quattro are the first series-production sports cars in the world to be powered by diesel engines. The two-liter four-cylinder engine delivers dynamic thrust, with a power output of 125 kW (170 hp) and 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) of torque. On average, however, the TDI in the TT Coupe requires only 5.3 liters of fuel per 100 km (44.38 mpg) - unbeatably low consumption in the sports car segment.

Here’s a cool piece of German video comparing ABT’s brand new diesel-powered AS5 with the legendary ur-quattro. While the AS5 may be a cool car, we can’t imagine it leaving the same impact in our hearts as the 80’s ur-quattro has. There’s also a brief appearance from the new Impreza WRX STI.

The Sunday Times’ Andrew Frankel has reviewed Mercedes’ new CLC Sports Coupe. Compared with the previous Sports Coupe, the Mercedes engineers have newly developed or enhanced over 1100 components. The new CLC is the successor to a successful Mercedes model that boasts some 320,000 drivers around the world to its name since 2001. The majority of these were new Mercedes customers. Its high conquest rate of some 70 percent made the Sports Coupe one of the most successful models in the Mercedes strategic product initiative.

“he problem is that for every senior citizen who buys a CLC, there will also be a young hotshot weighing up whether to choose one of these or, say, a BMW 120d as a new company car. While the Mercedes has nothing whatever to fear from the BMW in the visuals department, out on the road the 1-series will leave it a long way behind.”

We’re really hoping that BMW puts something like this into production - but we’re not holding our breath. The stunning BMW M1 concept has been created to help celebrate the original M1’s 30th anniversary, and it can be seen at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este. How incredible would this thing look alongside the monotonous clone cars on our streets?
