The Mercedes Coupe family continues to be headed by the luxurious CL-Class, which offers the widest model range in this vehicle class with the CL 500, CL 600, CL 63 AMG and CL 65 AMG.

In addition Mercedes-Benz will be entering the lists with the new CL 500 4MATIC with permanent all-wheel drive from summer 2008.

The new “Illusion” model variant is another iteration of the quick-changing Tigra TwinTop: the two-seater’s electro-hydraulic retractable steel roof is covered in a Bordeaux red canvas, which gives the car the soft-top look of a classic fabric-roofed cabrio – without foregoing the benefits of a hard top. The Tigra TwinTop “Illusion†will be one of the stars on the Opel stand at the 78th International Motor Show in Geneva.

New ICM poll: overwhelming majority of Londoners say new £25 congestion charge too high, and the Mayor’s own voters agree.

Three out of four Londoners oppose Mayor Ken Livingstone’s plan to increase the congestion charge to £25 for VED Band G vehicles, a new ICM opinion poll has found. Even those who voted for Mr Livingstone at the last Mayoral election believe by a large majority that the planned increase is too high, the poll reveals.

Production of John Cooper Works-tuned cars is all set to resume at MINI’s Plant Oxford after the launch of the second-generation MINI Cooper S Hatch and new MINI Cooper S Clubman. From July 2008, customers will be able to order factory-built MINIs that produce 211hp and complete a 0-62mph sprint in 6.5 seconds.

Mr Clarkson has had his nicotine-stained fingers on the mighty 507bhp Mercedes-Benz CLK Black Series.

“Initially, you don’t drive this car: you just cling on for dear life. For the first few miles, I genuinely thought it was actively trying to kill me. But then I became used to the way the back skips and settles and started to enjoy it. Then the enjoyment turned into sheer, unparalleled joy.
