VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA NAMES BARNES COO

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. announced today the appointment of Mark Barnes as chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America, Inc., effective January 15, 2008. Barnes will report directly to Stefan Jacoby, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.

“We’re excited to have Mark as our COO as we enter into a period of growth,” said Jacoby. “He will ensure that we are prepared to meet the needs of the market through the development and enhancement of our dealer network.”

As COO, Barnes will be responsible for setting the strategic direction, definition and development of customer service and sales for all of Volkswagen of America, Inc.

Barnes brings over 25 years of automotive industry experience having held senior sales and management positions with Chrysler, Hyundai Motor America and Nissan North America.
Barnes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Music from Indiana State University.
