The item sold for the final price of $425,000, which is the highest amount paid for an R8 and among the most money ever spent on a Bergdorf Goodman Holiday Gift Book item. As the winner of the auction, Petersen will have the opportunity to donate the proceeds beyond the cost of the car to the charity of his choice which is equal to $265,000.

Petersen will meet with architect Tony Chi in the upcoming weeks to custom-design the exclusive, sold out model. “Winning this one-of-a-kind car is a dream come true for a diehard Audi fan. And, it feels great to be able to give something back to charity and indulge one of my hobbies at the same time. It’s a win-win situation,” said Petersen.

For more than 25 years, Tony Chi has brought together diverse design talents from around the world and serves the most prestigious and demanding global clients. He is responsible for unique, refined and time-tested interiors around the globe, including Park Hyatt Shanghai (2008), Museum shop and Avus restaurant at Audi Forum Ingostadt, and Skylofts Las Vegas.
