NEXT POLO?

According to the guys at Auto Express, this is how the next generation Volkswagen Polo will look. Sitting on a modified version of the current Polo’s platform the new model grows to 4 metres in length. The face takes styling cues from the forthcoming Golf VI while around the back those lights are certainly reminiscent of Tiguan items.

Petrol powerplants will include a 60 or 70bhp 1.2L three-cylinder engine; an 85bhp 1.4L four-cylinder and a 105bhp 1.2L turbo. Oil burners will come in the form of a new 75bhp, 90bhp or 105bhp 1.6L common-rail TDI diesel. A Bluemotion 80bhp 1.4-litre TDI model will also be offered. Top of the tree will be the GTI powered by a 170bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged TSI motor.
Expect the new models to appear by mid-2009 for the three and five-door models. A crossover Dune and a drop-top will arrive shortly after.
